Bored of home workouts?

With home workouts being the only option at the moment, are you starting to get bored and lack motivation?

Here are a few ways to make things more exciting again.

1. Mix things up

Doing the same exercises or workout videos can get boring quickly. So make sure to switch up what you are doing. This could mean finding other workout videos or trying dance workouts.

Try not to be repetitive. Focus on legs one day then abs the next.

There are also various free fitness plans available online. So, if you are serious about trying to improve your fitness then this could be worth looking into. I find that these plans help to add consistency and structure to your workouts.

Changing the location in which you are exercising might also help. With the weather getting better, maybe consider exercising in the garden or going out for a run.

2. Buy new equipment

Buying new equipment can give you more options for your workouts. For instance, small weights or resistance bands.

You could also buy a skipping rope. I did this and found that it has helped me to vary the type of exercise I am doing. Skipping is a great and effective form of exercise which uses all the muscles in your body.

This doesn't mean you have to spend lots of money on new equipment. Buy small things that you can find online at reasonable prices.

3. Order new gym clothes

Everyone knows that buying new gym clothes gives you a sudden rush of motivation.

By buying new clothes you will want to workout more if you feel like you look the part. Go for something practical and comfortable.

There are so many places online that sell gym clothes. From dedicated high-end fitness brands like Gymshark to popular high street retailers like JD Sports. It all depends on your budget and style.

4. Exercise with a friend

With the current restrictions, you are allowed to meet up with one friend to go on a walk. You won't even realise how many steps you have done when you're chatting away. It's an easy way to get more steps in.

Alternatively, you can exercise together virtually via Zoom. Pick a workout and do it with your group of friends. Hopefully this will bring the fun back into your workouts and get you motivated again.
