What am I listening to during lockdown?

With all of us having to stay at home at the moment, I have found that music can really help uplift people's spirits. So, I thought I'd share some of the songs I have been listening to, old and new.

Octavian ft. Take a Daytrip, Obongjayar and Santi-Poison

Octavian's new single, Poison, was released on the 23rd April 2020. Perfect timing. This upbeat song will immediately lift your mood and get you off the sofa and onto your feet.

AJ Tracey ft. MoStack-Dinner Guest

AJ Tracey's latest single, Dinner Guest, was released on the 29th April 2020. The song was produced as a collaboration between AJ Tracey and The Elements, giving it a new twist. A hundred percent of the profits from the first week of downloads will be donated to NHS' COVID-19 Urgent Appeal.

Camila Cabello-Crying in the Club

Camila's debut single, Crying in the Club, was released in 2017. Five months after she left Fifth Harmony. The song was a huge success and reached number 12 in the Official Charts. Even now, it remains one of my favourite songs from her.

Shawn Mendes ft. Khalid -Youth

After seeing this song performed live at the O2 arena in 2019, this song has remained one of my favourites. The song was released in 2018 and was inspired by recent events. The London Bridge attack and the Manchester bombings in 2017 affected Shawn Mendes and led him to write Youth. The song focuses on trying to empower the younger generations. It may even resonate with people's feelings at the moment.

Natalie La Rose ft. Fetty Wap-Around the World

This song is older than the others, having been released in 2015. The single reached 14th in the UK charts, and 3rd in the US Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 singles. This was the first song that I heard of hers. Around the World and Somebody are my two favourite songs. Her music remains to be fun and energetic.

Billie Eilish-Bellyache

Billie Eilish has sprung into global success. One of her older songs, Bellyache, remains one of my favourites. Followed closely behind by Bad Guy. The song was released in 2017 and written by Billie Eilish and her brother, Finneas O'Connell. This 18-year-old has transformed the music industry. She has even been named as one of the artists who has helped boost the music industry's revenue.

Sam Fender-Greasy Spoon

Sam Fender released Greasy Spoon on the 26th September 2017. After listening to his album, Hypersonic Missiles, I became a fan of his music. This song is especially catchy. His unique music style distinguishes him from other artists. A lot of his songs also have important messages behind them or are linked to current events. If you haven't listened to his music, you should!
